Summer Safety

As the weather gets nicer, more and more you see people locking their animals in their vehicles while they run a “quick errand.” Unfortunately most people don’t realize that even at 70 degrees outside, temperatures in a turned off vehicle can reach in excess of 90 degrees. Aside from his regular calls, police also respond to animal related calls.

It is important that all pet parents are educated with the facts to keep their fur baby safe. It only takes 10 minutes for the inside of a car to reach a temperature that can cause heat stroke. Heatstroke symptoms include:

  • Hard Panting, red tongue/lips
  • Rapid Pulse
  • Lack of Coordination
  • Weakness and Tremors
  • Convulsions and Vomiting
  • Collapse, Coma, and Death

This summer, keep your pets safe by NOT leaving them in the car.
